How The Stratawire uses AI
Stories are written and checked by AI systems. No human editor reviews them before publication.
What the AI does
The StrataWire AI Desk is software. It writes each story from a material pack, checks it, scores its news value and publishes it. The models it uses, by role:
- writer: anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5
- checker: deepseek/deepseek-v4-pro, openai/gpt-5.6-terra
- research: claude-opus-5-5 (web research, verbatim excerpts)
The model used for each story is listed in that story's "How this story was made" panel.
What our reporter does
A human reporter works on the show floor with the StrataWire Reporter app, recording interviews (with consent), taking photographs and writing notes. That capture is the ground truth: floor stories are written only from it, and quotations must match the recording or notes word for word.
Checks before publishing
- Code checks: every quotation must appear word for word in the material; every number must appear in the material; length limits apply; unfinished template text is rejected.
- An independent checker model, from a different vendor than the writer, compares the draft with the material and lists problems. Any problem holds the story.
- The checker scores news value from 0 to 100 with a reason. Stories below 80 are not published.
- Every story must list at least one source and carry this disclosure at the top.
What no human does
No human editor reviews stories before publication. No person approves headlines, edits copy or decides what leads the home page. The home lead is chosen by a published rule: during a show, the show story with the highest news value score leads, and a reporter-floor story leads over an organiser-sourced one when their scores are within 10 points.
Organiser material
Some stories are written from highlights published by show organisers. They are labelled Briefing, their disclosure says The Stratawire did not witness the sessions, and every quotation is attributed "according to remarks published by the organisers".
Images
Only real photographs are used as the main image of a story, always with a credit. AI-generated images are never used as the main image; where one appears inside a story it is labelled "AI-generated illustration". Data graphics are labelled "Data graphic". Every image file we produce carries IPTC metadata stating how it was made.
Translation
Translated pages are produced by AI from the English original and say so at the top: "AI-translated from the English original". The English version is the reference.
Corrections and complaints
Anyone can report an error or request a right of reply. Published corrections are dated and listed on the story and on our Corrections page.
Why we work this way
Readers get reporting from the show floor within hours, built only from what our reporter captured or what organisers published, with every source and check shown so it can be verified.
EU AI Act, Article 50
AI-generated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest is labelled as AI-generated at first exposure: at the top of every story, on every story card, in feeds and in share text.
