Cenosco puts engineers, not AI, in control of asset integrity
At Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Cenosco is making a deliberately practical AI pitch: speed up integrity analysis while keeping engineering judgement and accountability with people.
BANGKOK — Amid the increasingly ambitious claims being made for artificial intelligence at Gastech, Cenosco is taking a more restrained position: use AI to accelerate the analysis, but keep the engineer in control.
That message is written directly across the company’s Booth R77 in Bangkok. Cenosco develops the IMS asset integrity management software suite for energy and other asset-intensive industries, bringing inspection histories, risk assessments, corrosion information and maintenance decisions into a common digital environment.
The argument is about engineering judgement
Asset integrity is a particularly consequential place to introduce AI. Decisions can determine when equipment is inspected, whether an inspection interval can safely be extended and where maintenance resources should be concentrated. Cenosco’s current position is that AI can assist with tasks such as data structuring, report preparation, anomaly detection and decision support, while qualified engineers remain responsible for the resulting integrity decisions.
The company says its 2026 product work has concentrated on the less glamorous foundations required for that model: structured and maintained data, traceable workflows and consistent information across engineering processes.
An LNG case gives the pitch some scale
The booth also highlights Egyptian LNG. Cenosco announced in 2024 that Egyptian LNG selected its IMS Pressure Equipment Integrity software for the Idku LNG plant, integrating it with the operator’s Oracle maintenance system to support risk-based inspection of static equipment and piping.
A testimonial displayed at the stand states that Cenosco IMS helped reduce turnaround inspection scope by 40% and turnaround duration by 10% within 24 months of implementation. Those figures are presented here as a customer claim displayed by Cenosco at Gastech; The Stratawire has not independently audited the underlying project data.
At a show filled with autonomous-agent language, Cenosco’s message is notably different: make the machine faster at analysis without handing it the final engineering decision.
Why it matters
The distinction is becoming important as AI moves deeper into operational energy systems. An assistant that finds records or prepares an inspection report is one thing. A system that influences risk rankings, inspection intervals or maintenance priorities touches decisions with direct safety and reliability consequences.
Cenosco’s Gastech position therefore connects with a broader theme emerging across Bangkok this week: industrial AI will ultimately be judged not simply by how autonomous it can become, but by whether its outputs are traceable, defensible and usable by the engineers who remain accountable for the plant.
