HANSUN puts the marine systems behind LNG shipping in focus at Gastech
Singapore-based HANSUN brings water treatment, pollution-control and gas-generation equipment into the conversation around safer, cleaner LNG and tanker operations.
BANGKOK — A Gastech contact with HANSUN (Singapore) Pte Ltd brings attention to a layer of the gas industry that rarely attracts the headlines: the shipboard systems that allow tankers and other vessels to operate safely, control emissions and manage water on board.
HANSUN describes its core marine portfolio around three broad areas: seawater desalination, fresh-water treatment and pollution prevention. Its wider equipment range also includes inert-gas generation, pressure-swing-adsorption nitrogen generation and exhaust-gas-recirculation wash-water treatment.
The safety systems behind the cargo
For tanker operations, inert-gas systems are a fundamental safety technology. By reducing oxygen concentration in cargo tanks, they help maintain an atmosphere in which combustion cannot readily occur. Nitrogen-generation systems serve a related role where high-purity inerting or blanketing is required.
That makes HANSUN relevant to the LNG and gas-shipping discussion at Gastech even when the equipment itself is not the most visible part of the value chain. The event's larger themes — LNG growth, alternative marine fuels, emissions reduction and fleet efficiency — all depend on auxiliary systems that function reliably around the main propulsion and cargo-handling plant.
Pollution prevention moves higher up the agenda
HANSUN also markets treatment systems for shipboard environmental compliance, including EGR wash-water treatment for dual-fuel engines. Exhaust-gas recirculation can be used as part of a strategy to control nitrogen-oxide emissions, while the associated wash water creates its own treatment requirement before discharge or handling.
The company says its products are certified by a range of major classification societies and supplied across merchant shipping, offshore applications and naval vessels. Its Singapore operation supports the regional market from Gambas Crescent, with sales, spares and after-sales activity in Asia-Pacific.
A Singapore link in a global marine supply chain
HANSUN's Singapore business was incorporated in 2012. The company's international materials list its Singapore office alongside its Shanghai base, reflecting the role Singapore continues to play as a service, sales and logistics hub for the Asian marine and offshore industry.
At Gastech, where much of the attention is directed toward new liquefaction plants, shipping capacity and future fuels, HANSUN represents the systems-engineering layer beneath those projects. Moving gas by sea is not only a question of building the vessel and loading the cargo; it also depends on the water, emissions-control, inerting and support systems that keep the ship operating safely.
