Expand Energy arrives in Bangkok with a clear message: North American gas wants a long-term place in LNG
BANGKOK — One of the clearest messages on the Gastech exhibition floor is written directly across Expand Energy's stand: “North America's largest natural gas producer” and “Your Long-Term LNG Supplier.”
That positioning goes to the heart of a central question at Gastech 2026: how much of the next wave of global LNG demand can North American producers capture, and how directly can they connect their gas portfolios to international buyers?
Scale behind the message
Expand Energy reported second-quarter 2026 net production of approximately 7.48 Bcfe per day, 92% of it natural gas, and reaffirmed full-year guidance of 7.4–7.6 Bcfe per day. The scale helps explain why the company is presenting itself in Bangkok not simply as a domestic upstream producer, but as part of the long-term LNG supply chain.
The company has also been moving further toward LNG exposure. In April it entered a 20-year agreement with Delfin FLNG 1 to purchase about 1.15 million tonnes of LNG per year, with commercial deliveries expected to begin in 2031.
At Gastech, the sales pitch is unusually direct: large-scale North American gas production, presented to an international audience as long-term LNG supply.
Why Bangkok matters
Asia is central to the global LNG market, and Gastech brings producers, portfolio players, utilities, infrastructure companies and governments into the same venue. For a producer such as Expand Energy, the exhibition floor is therefore more than a branding exercise. It is a place to position North American molecules against long-duration demand, energy-security concerns and the continuing expansion of LNG infrastructure.
Expand Energy's presence also comes shortly after it announced an agreement to acquire Twin Eagle, which the company says will create a more integrated natural-gas business. That adds another dimension to the story: producers increasingly want exposure beyond the wellhead and closer to the markets that ultimately determine the value of their gas.
The Stratawire view from the floor
The stand itself captures that strategy in a few words. There is no attempt to make the proposition complicated. Expand Energy is using Gastech to tell international buyers that North American gas production can be a long-term component of LNG supply.
For an industry discussing security of supply, affordability and rising electricity demand throughout the week in Bangkok, that is a message likely to be repeated well beyond this exhibition stand.
