ROOTS Systems puts oil-free process compression in focus at Gastech 2026

Behind many of the energy industry’s largest processes sits a less visible requirement: gases must be moved reliably, cleanly and under tightly controlled operating conditions. At Gastech 2026, ROOTS Systems is placing that engineering challenge directly in view.

The Stonehouse, Gloucestershire-based manufacturer specialises in oil-free rotary-lobe gas compressors, process blowers and vacuum-booster packages. Its equipment is used in process applications across the chemical, petrochemical, energy, oil and gas industries, both onshore and offshore.

Oil-free compression for demanding gases

At the centre of the company’s offer is the DURAGAS range. ROOTS says these rotary-lobe compressors can be engineered for a wide variety of process gases, including hydrogen, natural gas, boil-off gas, carbon dioxide and corrosive or potentially hazardous streams.

The oil-free design matters because lubricating oil is kept away from the process-gas stream. In applications where contamination, gas purity or process safety is critical, that separation is part of the engineering requirement rather than a secondary feature.

API 619 and the packaged-system question

The stand also highlights compliance with API Standard 619, the industry standard covering rotary-type positive-displacement compressors for petroleum, chemical and gas-industry services. ROOTS offers custom skid-mounted packages designed around the compressor, its sealing arrangements, controls and the wider requirements of the installation.

That packaged approach is significant. Operators are not buying an isolated machine; they need a system capable of fitting into a real plant, meeting project standards and continuing to perform under the specified gas composition, pressure and environment.

Hydrogen, carbon management and lower-emissions operations feature heavily in the wider Gastech conversation. Each depends on physical equipment that can handle gases safely and reliably. ROOTS Systems represents the practical engineering layer beneath those ambitions.
