The valve might be small. The proof that it works isn't.
Walk around Gastech and it is easy to be distracted by the enormous things. LNG carriers, turbines, compressors and projects measured in billions.
Then you find a company worrying about whether a valve actually works.
India's SHS Machines builds the equipment used to answer that question. Thousands of valves eventually disappear into refineries, drilling operations, process plants, nuclear facilities, pharmaceutical sites and water systems. Before they get there, somebody has to prove they can hold pressure, operate correctly and meet the required test standard.
SHS builds the machines that do that.
The interesting bit is the record
The Chennai manufacturer offers horizontal, vertical, universal, relief-valve and multi-station test benches, with systems ranging from manual operation through to fully automated testing. Its multi-station equipment can test several valves at the same time and produce individual or batch results.
But the more interesting Gastech story is what happens to the evidence afterwards.
SHS is promoting automated valve-testing systems alongside data recording and management software. The company has also been highlighting automatically generated, tamper-proof test reports aimed at oil and gas operators, refineries and OEM compliance.
That changes the question from simply whether a valve passed to something much more useful: can you prove it passed?
Why that matters
A valve is rarely the most expensive component in an industrial facility. A failed one can still cause shutdowns, lost production, safety problems and expensive maintenance. The test bench therefore sits in an easily overlooked part of the integrity chain.
Digital records matter because industrial assurance increasingly depends on traceability. Handwritten logs, disconnected spreadsheets and results that have to be re-entered later all create opportunities for mistakes or disputes. Capturing the result directly from the test equipment gives operators and manufacturers a much clearer trail.
SHS says its machines are installed internationally and designed around different operating environments, languages, electrical standards and user requirements. The company traces its roots to the early 1990s and today operates from Chennai.
A very Gastech kind of story
There are technologies on the Bangkok exhibition floor that photograph better than a valve test bench. That doesn't necessarily make them more important.
Energy infrastructure ultimately depends on thousands of comparatively ordinary components doing exactly what they are supposed to do, under pressure, for years at a time.
SHS Machines is exhibiting at Stand B126 at Gastech 2026. Its pitch is straightforward: test the valve, capture the result and leave a record people can trust.
Sometimes the useful technology story isn't the biggest machine in the hall. It's the machine making sure everything else is safe to use.
